It was a glorious afternoon on May 11th, when the five ladies pictured below set off in the wonderful new 12′ Perception kayaks from the Rowing Dock.  You should have been there.

AnnaE, DianeN, GailP-C, guest DebbieW, and I (LindaF) headed to the east.  Instead of a breathless and exhilarating tour of the undersides of the city’s bridges, we headed up Barton Creek.  Each bend in the Creek had new views of water, stately trees, and picturesque walkways and roadways; people walking and running; and terrified boys jumping into the water from great heights.  We made it nearly to the railroad bridge.  Naturally, the headwind died once our backs were to it, so it was good exercise on the way back to the dock.  No nutria were visible, and we commented on the missing black swans.  We didn’t see the white swans, either; only a pair of romantic ducks (well, one of them was romantic).

Our kids were a great topic of conversation.  Anna, Diane and Gail were famished, so they headed to Maudie’s on Lake Austin Blvd.  All are going to the Kerrville Folk Festival.

Put yourself in the picture!
